In 1901, Rose McLeod accompanies her father to Cairo, Egypt to acquire ancient Egyptian relics for their antiquities business back home in Baltimore. A notorious slaver, known for procuring concubines for harems, abducts Rose. I really enjoyed this story and the journey that Rose undertook from first realizing that her friendship with Emma was just that, to being kidnapped, only to be rescued yet told she would not be returned to her father as she was a gift from the God's to Meryt. Rose and Meryt's relationship is a rocky one at first, and it was through the great love and friendship that both women had for Tiye and Hedjet that they finally start to appreciate one another, both overcoming personal restraints to allow their feeling for one another to finally materialize.Product details

I read this book while was on vacation in Florida, and if you can't tell by my title... I loved it. I don't want to give the book away...but I believe the author should write the story of the other,"chosen" Merytneit's. Ancasta, Kasia, Maria, and Naomi deserves to have their story told and I for one, would look forward to reading them. If not their stories... than I wouldn't mind reading more about Rose and her Meryt. This story really flowed and the characters were made to be real even though this was a whole different culture. What started out as a bad experience, turned into true friendships and a love that continues many life times.
To say I thoroughly enjoyed this book would be a great understatement. Days after reading Wind and Dreams I still find myself thinking about this story.
The tale of Merytneit and Rose is a tale of mystery and intregue, good and evil, attempted murder and kidnapping, Ancient Egyptian Gods and Goddesses and of a love that spans eternity....and sex. Really, really good, hot sex. Makes your toes curl its so good sex.
I just can not get this story out of my head. I truly hope Ms. North will grace us with a follow up book. Their story is far from finished!
Now if you will excuse me, I think I am going to go re-read it again.
This is a f/f book
Engaging story. Part romantic fantasy and part history. Meryt is the autocratic female ruler of a hidden kingdom in the Sahara founded by ancient Egyptians. Rose McLeod is an American who is held captive by Meryt. Meryt thinks that Rose was given to her by the Goddess Neit.
These two start out with an antagonistic relationship but are drawn to each other by their past lives in different times. All the relationships were believable. I liked all the characters and thought them well fleshed out. The two main supporting characters are also fleshed out and add insight and humor to the story. I liked how the villainess was portrayed and her motives. If you're looking for an entertaining read that has you turning the page and different than the run-o-mill romance, this one is well worth a read.
I recommend reading this book thoroughly. The story is captivating and kept going in a beautiful way. I would have preferred more time with the two lead couple that what was written and more explanation of their reincarnation. Other than this, the story was felt and enjoyed.

Historical romance novels are my least favorite to read but because I loved the other books from this author that I had to try this one. It took me awhile, kept going back and forth whether I should give it a go. I did today and was not disappointed. I got hooked from the beginning. I can't wait for this author's new book to come out. I hope soon.
In the beginning it was hard to read with all the Egyptian words but fortunately I was getting more familiar with them. I was surprised how much I enjoyed it. It was written so colorful. The description of ancient Egypt was fantastic and there was so much detail. I loved how the relationships between the various characters developed, the clash of cultures and how this two worlds collided. It was hard to put it down. I'm going to read it again and I can strongly recommend it to anyone.
This is the best Lgbt book I've ever read. The characters are developed wonderfully, the romance is not too quick or too slow and the writing itself is beautiful. I couldn't even find one grammatical error. This writer is amazing and I will definitely be checking out more of her work.
